On the terrace in the shadow of a suggestive blooming pergola the Italian breakfast is served with delicious homemade cakes.

Conca dei Marini

Conca dei Marini - Locanda degli Agrumi

The origins of this city are unknown; it was probably founded by the Tyrrhenians and was originally called Cossa. In 481 B.C. it became a Roman colony. After the fall of the Western Roman Empire Conca played an important role in the life of the Maritime Republic of Amalfi with its skilled sailors and experienced traders who owned 27 big galleons. During the Angevins and Swabian Age Conca lived a huge trade expansion as well as during the Aragoneses and Borbonic Age. In 1543 the town underwent a Turkish raid and the Church of St. Pancras was completely sacked. In 1528 and 1556 the bubonic plague raged on Conca. In 1861 Conca dei Marini was officially annexed to the new Kingdom of Italy.  Nowadays Conca hosts tourists from all over the world and offers the breathtaking beauty of its landscape and of its history. Some people continue to shape palms into crosses or other elaborated and beautiful figures, for Palm Sunday, as they did in the past. The ancient merchants and sailors handed down to their descendants their spirit of communication and openness towards other people. Conca shows to its visitors its charming features: from the cliff top down to the sea a picturesque cascade of white houses, terraces and gardens, stairs and streets, scattered among the aromatic Mediterranean vegetation, far from the hustle and bustle of modern life. The main source of income is tourism followed by fishing and agriculture. The growing and distribution of lemons involves a great part of the population and the delicious small and round tomatoes “piennolo” with their intense flavour are easily cooked with a typical handmade pasta.
